Hearst Museum object titled Stool (seating furniture), accession number 5-15399, described as Stool, wood, one piece, hand carved, tee-shaped. Square center on top part of tee with rectangular "wing" on each side, small (length 3.5 centimeters) open work triangles carved into top of tee. Incised geometric design on top. Twisted fiber carrying handle tied through triangles. 3 brass upholstery tacks at one end of top. "Belge. Congo" coin secured to top with brad and 1.8 centimeter length section of incised wood. Slot in base of tee. Iron band around half of base. Height 18.7 centimeters, width 52.7 centimeters. From Central Africa, Zaire, Southern Congo, Mongo. Materials: carved hardwood, twister fiber, brass upholstery tacks, nails, brass coin.
