Context of use: Collector Kate Delos cut the textile into its present shape and used it for decoration in her own house. Backing put on by Delos, removed at museum. This "Diori Hamani cloth" is an example of a Niger "motif cloth." Diori Hamani was the first president of Niger after independence declared in 1960.
