The basket has a crossed warp starting knot. The warp material is probably hazel (Corylus cornuta californica). The background weft is conifer root (Pinophyta; though according to Ruth Merrill the weft is Grape root, Vitus californica). The weft overlay is beargrass (Xerophyllum tenax) and maidenhair fern (Adiantum). At the starting knot there is 1 inch of three strand twining, followed by plain twining to the rim. The main design is three horizontal bands of triangles, forming a flower-like design. The basket has a rightward work direction. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist.
