Open diagonal twined. Entirely covered on exterior face with soaproot juice (Chlorogalum pomeridianum), rendering basket seed-tight. Reinforcing hoop at rim. Two horizontal bands of black stitches as decoration. Made of peeled and split shoots.

Soap root (Chlorogalum pomeridianum) stiffening. Hooded cradle, made of small wooden rods and twine. Also note that the whole cradle, particularly the hood, is stiffened and rendered fairly tight by the application of hot soaproot juice.
