Hi Highness The Maharana of Udaipur is the highest in rank and dignity among the Rajput Princes of India. He is a Sisodia ajput and is considered by Hindus a direct descendat of Rama, the ancient King of Ajodhya, by one of whose descendants, Kanak Sen, the present family was founded about A.D. 144. This Prince represents the Solar Dynasty, whose symbol is the sun; and a workman of Udaipur has built this huge emblem, which greets the lucky visitor to the inner-palace as he steps from the last courtyard into the anteroom to the "Hall of Audience.
