(a) Sword: heavy steel blade with carved deer antler hilt ornamented with tufts of animal hair and pendant human hair; mastic and woven rattan grip. Length 63 cm. (b) Scabbard: two pieces wood held together with elaborate rattan binding; one side elaborately carved in so-called “leech” design; plaited rattan waist strap with cloth band. Length 50.6 cm. Used in Warfare; also hewing down jungle undergrowth, cutting rattans and bamboos, and the rough shaping of wooden implements.
