Hearst Museum object titled Black-and-white negative, accession number 15-30304, described as Black and white negative of the blacksmith, painter, and carpenter, all of whom accompanied Hoefler in his expedition, talking besides one of the trucks. Hoefler's original description: "British India. Photograph shows, from left to right, the blacksmith, the painter and the carpenter who accompanied the Hoefler Asiatic Expedition throughout its entire tour of India. At every lengthy stop, these men would take up their task of completing the bodies of the two trucks. This work was begun at Bombay previous to the departure of the Expedition from its headquarters; and by perserverance and with the elapse of enough time, the work was completed - upon the return of the Expedition to Bombay, just before it sailed for home!"
