Hearst Museum object titled Plate basket, accession number 1-3075, described as Openwork plain-twined bowl basket.  Rim white, brown etc.  Tag "Klamath R. Tribes Att."  Second tag "NW Calif". Per Ralph Shanks:  Twined openwork basket, in the shape of a cradle sunshade. The basket has a crossed warp starting knot.  The warp and weft material is hazel or willow.  The rim is wrapped with beargrass, conifer root, and red-dyed woodwardia. On the interior there is one portion of one weft row that has some material with red bark.  The basket is plain twined over primarily one warp, with the rows spaced up to approximately 1 inch apart. The rim is covered, with one weft row and several reinforcing rods.  The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist and a rightward work direction.  The workface is probably on the exterior.  The basket is from Northwestern California, possibly Yurok based on the the provenience of "Lower Klamath River".
Hearst Museum object titled Plate basket, accession number 1-12019, described as Openwork twined basket with warp turned down border, the ends of the warp sticks being inside instead of outside the basket.  Tag:  "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks:  Openwork twined basket bowl.  Used, with wear and some residue.  The start is a cross-warped twined start.  The warp foundation is primarily unpeeled shoot rods.  The background wefts are unknown unpeeled red shoot and the design wefts are peeled.  The design is one horizontal band of peeled material. The rim is made of warps bound down to the right on the interior of the basket, forming a looped trim on the rim.  The basket has an exterior work face, a rightward work direction, and an up to the right slant of weft twist.

Plain twining; weft ends turned to form additional warps.  3 closely twined rows at top.  Tag "1303", second tag "Wailaki". Per Ralph Shanks:   Twined openwork basket tray.  Crossed warp start, perpendicular.  Peeled shoot warps and wefts, possibly willow.  Starting at the starting knot there is plain twining over one or two warps, at the rim there are three closely spaced plain twined rows.  The rim is closely trimmed.  There is some wrapping around the end of the basket, 1/4 wide.  The warps are primarily parallel, and new warps are tightly bound to old warps.  The basket has an exterior workface, with a rightward work direction and an up to the right slant of weft twist.  The basket sightly undulates.
