The golden monument stands in Tiananmen Square above a sea of red flags. Splashes of blue pigment suggest a clear sky. On the right a red inscription reads: “Carry the Revolution through to the end” (将革命进行到底Jiang geming jinxing daodi). Black bowstring decorates the rim. Cf. same legend on mug 10 and enamel tray of closely similar design.
