The yellow-ground shallow bowl is decorated with abstract red and orange pattern on the interior rim, and a blue bowstring to the rim. Acquisition Data: Gift from Palace Museum colleague Hu Chui, 14 December 2011. Mr. Hu was given the bowl as his all-purpose dish when he was a “sent down youth” 知青 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, in 1969.

Hearst Museum object titled Lid, accession number 9-23867, described as Lid for oil stove - enamel tray. The top of the lid is decorated with a red design stenciled on white ground. The center, which is slightly higher than the rest of the surface, features four characters “Yongbei Oil Stove” (永備油爐 yongbei youlu). The outer circle is a flame-like pattern. A blue bowstring decorates the rim. This would have been used on the top of a stove.

Framed on the top and the bottom by an abstract auspicious pattern and a panoramic scene of factories, both in orange. Blue bowstring decorates the rim.

Brown bowstring decorates the rim.

On the right there is a red inscription: Be united, alert, earnest and active (团结紧张严肃活泼Tuanjie jinzhang yansu huopo). Black bowstring decorates the rim.
