Hearst Museum object titled Sifter basket, accession number 1-1456, described as Sifter basket; twined. Warp is Hazel (Corylus cornuta californica), weft is Sugar pine (Pinus lambertiana). White pattern is Beargrass (Xerophyllum tenax). Grimy from use. After 3 strand portion in center was twined, it was twined over and warps added. Designs are on inside of basket. Plain twined. Almost completely overlain with white single faced overlay, floated on back. Repeating zigzag design.

Plain twined, white overlay floated on back.

White 2 faced overlay. 1 row 3 strand twining approximately 2 cm from edge. Mostly solid, dotted and vertical stripes.

White overlay floated on back. Dark parallel lines radiate from center. Zigzag motif.
