Hearst Museum object titled Cooking basket, accession number 1-11921, described as New hemispherical basket with peculiar triangular and rectangular pattern in fours. Tag "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks: Broad flaring coiled bowl, in the shape of cooking/ parching basket. The basket appears unused. The basket has a twined start. The coil foundation is rods and splints. The weft designs are in unpeeled redbud and the design background is in peeled redbud. The design includes four vertical bands of amplified stacked triangles with a vertical band of amplified squares in their center. Between each of the vertical designs is one downward pointing triangle. There are random rectangles. The rim is plain wrapped. The primary design continues to the rim. The rim coil ending is slightly tapered, with about three back stitches. The rim has a larger diameter coil than the rest of the basket. The weft fag ends are bound under a few concealed or clipped; the weft moving ends are concealed. More than 50% of the wefts are split on the interior, less than 10% are split on the exterior. The wefts are non-interlocking. The basket has an exterior workface. It has a rightward work direction and a down to the right slant of weft twist.
