Hearst Museum object titled Acorn meal basket, accession number 1-11960, described as Globose coiled basket.  Tag: "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled globose basket bowl.  There are no abrasions or residue. The basket has a tight spiral coiled start with indentation and a small hole in the center, but not pinhole start however. The start's wefts have three rows of unpeeled redbud.  The coil foundation is three rod peeled shoots.  The wefts are peeled redbud background with unpeeled redbud designs.  The design is diagonal lines with flags off the top and bottom of the lines, quail designs per informant.  There are no random rectangles.  The rim is plain wrapped; the rim coil ending is missing.  The weft fag ends are primarily clipped. The weft moving ends are primarily concealed.  The exterior of the basket has about 15% split stiches; the interior has over 90% split stiches.  The basket has an exterior workface, with a rightward work direction, and various slant of weft twist.  Based on the lack of random rectangles and Lizzie Chicken's background of being half-Yuki half-Wailaki this basket was woven in the style of Wailaki baskets.

Two tags:  "Yuki" Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled parching basket that has had broken bottom replaced with twined patch.  The patch was stitched on with a possibly non- native material.  The basket has food debris.  The warps are rods and splints. The basket has peeled redbud background wefts and unpeeled redbud design wefts.  The design is horizontal bands of unpeeled redbud.  The rim is missing.  The basket has an exterior workface.  There are many split stitches on the backface.  The weft fag ends are bound under, with the moving ends concealed.  The basket has a rightward work direction and a down to the right slant of weft twist.  The work direction, materials and techniques used in the basket are consistent with Yuki manufacture. The twined patch at the base of the basket is said to have been taken from an old Wailaki basket, per Samuel Barrett's informants.  The patch is plain twined with an up to the right slant of weft twist.  The wefts may be conifer root.  The warps are peeled shoot.

Third row from rim done in red; dotted rows at 4 and 5 cm from top; 8 cm from rim is a row part red, then dotted; 2 more red rows at 12 and 13 cm from edge.  One tag:  "Wailaki att." Two Tags: "Wailaki". Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled basket bowl, with food debris.  Tight spiral start, overstitched.  The coil foundation is splints only.  The wefts are peeled redbud and the design is unpeeled redbud.  The weft fag ends are bound under.  The moving ends are trimmed with some concealed.  The stitches are non-interlocking.  There are some split stitches on the work face and approximately 50% split stitches on the back face.  The rim is plain wrapped, with a blunt coil ending.  The workface is on the exterior, the work direction is to the right.  The slant of weft twist is down to the right.  The characteristics of the basket do not rule out either a Yuki or Wailaki maker.

Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled globular basket bowl, with no residue.  Twined start.  Peeled shoot rod foundation.  Redbud wefts both peeled and unpeeled.  The overall design is diagonal steps with rectangles and triangles on the tops and bases of the steps.  There are random rectangles.  The rim is wrapped, with slightly tapered ending; the last inch of wefts is backstitched.  The basket has an exterior workface, with a rightward work direction and primarily down to the right slant of weft twist.  The weft fag ends are primarily clipped with some concealed; the moving ends are primarily concealed with some clipped.  There are split and unsplit stitches on the interior.  The basket could be either Wailaki or Yuki.

Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled basket bowl, appears to be a food serving bowl.  Used, with wear and food residue.  The start is a coil start.  The coil foundation is rod and splint redbud shoots.  The wefts are interior peeled redbud.  The rim is plain wrapped, with a tapered coil ending with six diagonal backstitches.  The weft fag ends and the weft moving ends are bound under.  The wefts are split infrequently on the exterior, on the interior up to half are split.  The basket has an exterior work face, a rightward work direction, and a down to the right slant of weft twist.
Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-11987, described as Plate form coiled basket.  Tag: "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks:  Shallow flaring coiled bowl.  There is food debris.  The basket start is a tight spiral that has been stitched over.  The coil foundation includes peeled redbud rods and splints.  The weft designs are in unpeeled redbud and the design background is in peeled redbud. The design includes two horizontal bands of one row of unpeeled redbud followed by one horizontal band of two rows of unpeeled redbud. There are a few random rectangles.  The rim is plain wrapped, and missing in several areas.  The rim coil ending is blunt with two back stitches, three are missing.  The weft fag ends are bound under or clipped; the weft moving ends are concealed or bound under.  Less than 30% of the wefts are split on the interior, less than 10% are split on the exterior.  The wefts are non-interlocking.  The basket has an exterior workface.  It has a rightward work direction and a down to the right slant of weft twist.  The maker of this basket was half Yuki and half Wailaki.  The techniques and shape of the basket resemble Wailaki food bowls.

Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled flaring basket serving bowl, with residue from food.  The basket has a tight spiral start.  The coil foundation is one rod and splints of peeled shoots.  The wefts are peeled redbud with unpeeled redbud designs.  The design on the sides of the basket is two horizontal zigzags that almost, but do not intersect. There are no random rectangles. The rim is plain wrapped with some rim ticks.  The coil ending is tapered with five remaining diagonal backstitches.  The weft fag ends are primarily clipped or bound under, with some concealed.  The weft moving ends are primarily bound under.  The exterior has below 5% split stiches.  The interior of the basket has nearly 50% split stiches.  The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction and a down to the right slant of weft twist.  The basket was made by a half Wailaki half Yuki person.  The basket has more Wailaki aspects, with the lack of random rectangles and the design of non-intersecting lines, than Yuki aspects, but shares common Yuki and Wailaki techniques and materials.

Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled low broad basket bowl.  Used, with residue.  The start is a tight spiral.  The coil foundation is peeled shoot splint and rods.  The basket wefts are peeled redbud, with two to three wefts of unpeeled redbud.  There is one random rectangle.  The rim is plain wrapped; the rim ending is blunt/ possibly snapped off.  The basket has an exterior workface.  The weft fag ends are bound under; the interior moving ends are bound under.  There are about 30% split wefts on the interior, with less than 5% split on the exterior.  The basket has a rightward work direction, with a variable slant of weft twist, with the majority of weft twists down to the right.  The catalog card mentions a Wailaki maker, Sally Brown.  The techniques and materials indicate this could be either a Yuki or Wailaki basket.
Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-12189, described as Large old plate form coiled basket.  Samuel A. Barrett field notes, p. 109:  "tcegat"  . Tag: "Wailaki". Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled cooking basket with flaring sides, used.  The start is plain twined, and 3/4 inch in diameter, slightly indented, the basket turns into coiling thereafter.  The warps are rods and splints.  The wefts are redbud, peeled and unpeeled.  The rim is plain wrapped, with a tapered ending.   There are several horizontal bands of design, with five checkered rows, followed by a mottled band, followed by six solid rows.  There are many Yuki-style signature rectangles. The majority of the stitches are non-interlocking.  About a 1/4 of the stitches are split, mostly towards the rim.  The fag ends are concealed. There is a down to the right slant of weft twist and a rightward work direction, with an exterior workface.  Coiled Wailaki baskets of this size are very rare.

On bottom, solid colored rows and checked rows.  One tag: "Wailaiki att." Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled globular basket bowl, with no residue.  Pinhole start slightly indented.  Three rod foundation.  Redbud wefts, both peeled and unpeeled.  The overall design is diagonal steps.  The design at the base is unusual, with three concentric bands of unpeeled redbud with alternating vertical stripes. The rim is wrapped, with a 3/8 inch tapered ending; the last few wefts are unpeeled redbud.  The basket has an exterior workface, with a rightward work direction and a mixed slant of weft twist.  The weft fag ends are clipped and concealed; the moving ends are concealed and clipped.  There are split stitches on the interior.
