Hearst Museum object titled Figure, accession number 2-72494, described as Hopi, white buffalo figure; social dancer. white painted body with forearms, legs below knees and circular lozenge on chest and back in black with white painted ovals in row. wears a painted leather breech clout, white fur kilt with tail and white fur. head covering with horns each side of head. armlets and sash of leather decorated with shells. rawhide knee bands are strung with bells. white fur anklets and dance boots. holds a rattle in one hand. yucca whip is missing from left hand. face painted white with black marking beneath each eye. mounted on a round of cotton wood.

Face painted pink with black/white eyes, a red "V" over nose, large and protruding red mouth. Wears a close fitting black cap with 3 flowers and with feather bun, green neckerchief, dark brown cape with yellow and red shoulder decoration, a kilt and woman's sash, Taos boots, and silver/turquoise/coral bracelets on each wrist. Yellow and orange 1/2 face with rectangular black eyes, 3 colored bands across lower face (aqua, pink, yellow) and a feather "beard" (carved and wood-burned). Wears a woman's dress decorated with narrow bands of pink and green above hem, and a decorated "maidens" shawl and boots. Shawl decorated along hem and around shoulders (green/black). Hair arranged in traditional Hopi whirls over each ear with straight side locks and bangs. One feather decorates forehead. Holds a basket or tray with blue corn cob and yellow squash. Hearst Museum object titled Katsina figure, accession number 2-72124, described as Standing figure; carved and painted cotton wood root figure with white face decorated with 2 rectangular black eyes and small, square, black mouth over 2 connected brown diamond shapes which extends across cheeks and from bridge of nose to chin. Each is bordered with a narrow turquoise line. Striated black hair hangs down back almost to waist. A painted roundel with carved wooden feathers is attached over each ear. Body is painted with a white wash over which brown/tan lines are painted. Figure wears a painted breast plate over which hangs a turquoise necklace and an orange bandolier over right shoulder extending almost to hem of kilt, over which, around top of kilt, is a pointed "concho belt" with a decorated roundel on right. A carved foxtail is attached at back. Kilt carved and painted to resemble deerskin. Wears sepia tone "Taos" boots with decorated ties around cuffs. Holds a red arrow in right hand and a bowl in left hand. Lewis Rogers, carver.
