Hearst Museum object titled Winnowing tray, accession number 1-70119, described as Coiled, deep tray.  Tag: "Mission Type" "Snake".   Per Ralph Shanks:  Broad low bowl in shape of winnower; made for sale.  Materials include a deergrass bundle foundation and orange, tan, and black dyed juncus wefts.  The primary design is a coiled rattlesnake.  The workface is on the inside.  The wefts are bound under and the work direction is to the right.  The basket has a plain wrapped rim with a half inch long herringbone finish.
