Hearst Museum object titled Kapa (bark cloth), accession number 11-37049, described as Tapa cloth sample, with design of wavy white and red bands with black diamond filler. Red bands painted with red vegetable dye; black designs achieved by stamping with charcoal dye. This "kapa" made from thin "wauke" (Brigham "waoke" p.210) or paper mulberry, Broussonetia papyrifera (pp.119-121). Reddish color from "noni" (morinda citrifolia) root.
