Hearst Museum object titled Religious cord, accession number 9-12113, described as Religious cord; Parsi child’s; natural colored lamb's wool, handspun and handwoven; flat tape with braided and tasseled ends; one end broken, snarled and knotted around the other; traditionally worn wound around the waist by all Parsis after their initiation.  All aspects of the kasti, material and technique, are symbolic of certain Zoroastrian beliefs and precepts.  Donor’s mother, collector’s paternal grandmother wove this specimen for collector’s initiation, or Navjote ceremony.
