Hearst Museum object titled Acorn meal basket, accession number 1-11959, described as Globose coiled basket.  Tag: "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled globose basket bowl.  There are no abrasions or residue. The basket has a tight spiral coiled start with small hole in center, not pinhole start however. The starts wefts are unpeeled redbud.  The coil foundation is three rod peeled shoots.  The wefts are peeled redbud background with unpeeled redbud designs.  The design is eleven horizontal one coil row wide bands of redbud.  There are a few small random rectangles.  The rim is plain wrapped; the rim coil ending is slightly tapered with five diagonal back stitches.  The weft fag ends are concealed, with some clipped or tucked.  The weft moving ends are primarily concealed with some tucked.  The exterior of the basket has a few split stiches; the interior has more than 50% split stiches.  The basket has an exterior workface, with a rightward work direction, and down to the right slant of weft twist.  There is one hair woven into the basket.  Note with basket in Larry Dawson's handwriting "Closure of lines line = ~ [about] 40A coil ending no dau marks".  Per Ralph Shanks Dawson was looking for dau marks in this basket.

Per Ralph Shanks:  Globose coiled basket bowl, probably made for storage, with no residue.  Tight spiral coil start. The coil foundation is rods of peeled shoots, with some splints.  The wefts are peeled redbud with unpeeled redbud designs.  The design includes three diagonal series of connected steps.  There are random rectangles.  The rim is plain wrapped and the coil ending has exposed rods.  The weft fag ends are clipped, concealed or bound under.  The weft moving ends are bound under.  The exterior workface has about 15% split stiches.  The interior back-face of the basket has about 50% split stiches.  The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward direction and a down to the right slant of weft twist.

Per Ralph Shanks:  Coiled globular basket bowl, probably made for storage.  Some residue in the interior.  The basket has a sewn over pinhole start.  The coil foundation is three rods of peeled shoots.  The background wefts are peeled redbud background on the base but on the sides of the basket it is sedge root with dyed bulrush root designs.  The design is four vertical bands of three upward- pointing stacked triangles.  There are random rectangles on the base, as well as some incorporated into the bulrush triangles.  The rim is plain wrapped with about every two inches of unpeeled redbud alternating with bulrush; the rim coil ending has six up to the right diagonal backstitches with two stitches covering the backstitches that are down to the right.  The weft fag ends are primarily clipped, with some concealed.  The weft moving ends are primarily concealed.  The basket has non-interlocking stitches.  The wefts on the exterior are less than 5% split; the wefts on the interior have over 40% split.  The basket has an exterior workface, with a rightward work direction, and a down to the right slant of weft twist.  Susan Rubin is said to be Yuki on the 1900 US census.  The note on this basket by Barrett's informant says that Yuki did not "use roots".   It is possible that Susan Rubin may have been Huchnom, who are known to use sedge root and bulrush root.  Huchnom used to be called Yuki as well.
