Hearst Museum object titled Basket tray, accession number 1-2503, described as Tray basket; twined. Warp is Hazel (Corylus cornuta californica), weft is Conifer (Pinophyta). White pattern is Beargrass (Xerophyllum tenax).   Per Ralph Shanks:  Large, shallow circular basket.  Beargrass overlay on conifer root weft.  At starting knot 3 strand twining, but bulk of basket is plain twined.  2 rows of 3 strand twining inch below rim.  On bottom 4 concentric reinforcing rods.
Hearst Museum object titled Basket tray, accession number 1-16553, described as Basket; twined. Warp is Willow (Salix), weft is yellow Pine. White pattern is Beargrass (Xerophyllum tenax). Flat twined tray basket. Grimy and worn from use. White 2-faced overlay sawtooth design around rim. Mostly plain twined. 3-strand twining occurs: about 5 cm radius from start, 6.5 - 8 cm from start, and 13 cm from start (2 rows).
