Hearst Museum object titled Doll, accession number 2-71834, described as Navajo baby doll and cradle board. Cradle made of board, notched with a “V” and with two leather straps to hold the baby. Fabric sun shade is thumbtacked to the board and tied with white yarn. Baby is stuffed fabric with inked feathers and mohair hair. Wrapped in purple and white fabric wrapping.

Figures are of unfired clay, wagon, wheels and base are of wood. Four-wheeled wagon is painted green with red wheels. Navajo pair, seated on wagon wearing a combination of painted and fabric clothing; Horses and sheep are painted; sheep is embellished with wool. L = 11” (a) white horse [one leg broken and mended]; (b) brown horse; (c) wagon; (d) sheep; (e) man; (f) woman.

Disk face with forehead red and yellow, lower face turquoise with stylized black features; surrounded by a feather ruff (brown). Back and sides of head covered with white rabbit fur. Body painted red-brown, with 1 shoulder and forearm painted yellow and 1 turquoise. Each arm embellished with shell with leather thong bracelets and armlets. Straw bundles held in each hand. Leggings (knee to ankle) painted yellow and turquoise in correspondence with shoulder and arm paint. Wears "Taos" boots of sepia toned, suede leather. Wears a painted leather apron over rabbit fur kilt and bandolier. Leather decorated with small shells. Leather thongs with shells and bells around each knee. Dancing stance with 1 foot raised. Mounted on cottonwood disk. Raymond Parkette carver.
