The primary design is a band of maidenhair fern with alternating black and tan triangles. The basket has an exterior workface with a rightward work direction. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist. The overlay is only on the outside. The rim is trimmed, and is unraveling. The basket is from Northwest California. There is a hair woven into the basket.

The weft is conifer root. The weft overlay design is beargrass and red- dyed woodwardia fern. At the starting knot there is 3/4 inches of three strand twining, after that 2 inches of plain twining, after that one weft row of three strand twining, switching to plain twining until the rim, were there are two weft rows of three strand twining. The main design is a horizontal band of triangles followed by a band of diamonds followed by another band of triangles. Four weft rows below the rim there is are two red weft rows. On the base there is a speckled beargrass overlay. On the interior overlay designs there are two bands of alternating tan and red triangles. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist with an exterior workface. Based on the materials and techniques this is a Northwest California basket, possibly Whilkut based on the interior overlay designs. There is a hair woven in the basket, located towards the top row of triangles.
