Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-12057, described as Small globose coiled basket with three-rod foundation. Very similar to Pomo. Tag "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks: Flaring coiled basket bowl. The basket has a twined start. The coil foundation is a mix of splints and rods. The wefts are unpeeled redbud with sedge root background. The design three diagonal steps with a lighting design in the middle. The rim is plain wrapped with a tapered ending. The basket has an exterior workface, a leftward work direction, and the an up to the right slant of weft twist. The weft fag ends are primarily clipped. The weft moving ends are bound under or concealed. The weft stitches are 35% split on the backface and very little on the workface. The basket was said by Lizzie Scott, Yuki, to have been given to her by a Huchnom, Louise Hudson.

Third tag "92". Fourth tag "No. 92 property of Mrs. George H. Taylor Fresno Cal.” Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled flaring basket, possibly a cooking basket, with some residue and a burn at the base. The basket has a twined start, currently with a hole. The coil foundation is rod and splints of peeled shoots. The background wefts are maybe sedge root (Carex) with brown/black plant material designs. The design is diagonal stepped parallelograms. There are no random rectangles. The rim is plain wrapped with rim ticks at one area of the rim. The coil ending is tapered. The weft fag ends are primarily concealed, with some clipped. The weft moving ends are primarily concealed. The exterior has below 10% split stiches. The interior of the basket has over 90% split stiches. The basket has an exterior workface with a leftward work direction and an up to the right slant of weft twist. The leftward work direction, the up to the right slant of weft twist, and the materials do not fit with Yuki materials and techniques, they possibly fit with Huchnom materials and techniques, and otherwise the basket is attributable to the Yukian area based on the use of splints in the coil foundation.

Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-67846, described as Coiled, wide mouth, sloping sides. Tag "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled, slightly flared, shallow basket bowl, not used but with some debris and dirt on the interior. The basket start is a tight coiled spiral. The coil foundation is three rods of peeled shoots. The wefts are sedge root background and unpeeled redbud, and few wefts of dyed bracken fern. The main design is three vertical columns of alternating sedge and redbud. The last weft row of redbud has four to six weft stitches of black dyed bracken fern. There are no random rectangles. The rim is plain wrapped. The rim coil ending is blunt with three diagonal backstitches. The wefts are slightly widely spaced. The weft fag ends are clipped with some bound under. The weft moving ends are concealed. The weft stitches on the exterior are less than 5% split. The weft interior stitches are 35-40% split. The basket has an exterior workface, a rightward work direction, and a down to the right slant of weft twist. Based on the materials and techniques including the use of sedge and the rightward work direction this basket is probably Huchnom see page 117-118 of Indian Baskets of Central California by Ralph Shanks.

Per Ralph Shanks: Coiled basket bowl. There are no abrasions but there is residue. The basket has a tight spiral coiled start. The coil foundation is three rod peeled shoots. The wefts are probably sedge root background with unpeeled redbud designs. The design includes diagonal crossed stacked-rectangle lines. There are no random rectangles. The rim is plain wrapped; the rim coil ending is missing. The weft fag ends are over 90% concealed, with some clipped. The weft moving ends are primarily concealed. The exterior of the basket has a few split stiches; the interior has a majority of split stiches. The basket has an exterior workface, with a rightward work direction, and a mixed slant of weft twist. The maker was said by Samuel Barrett's informants to be the mother of a Redwood, which is Huchnom. The use of sedge root is common to the Huchnom, and Huchnom work direction is typically but not always to the left see pg. 117-118 "Indian Baskets of Central California". Based on this and Barrett's informants comment this basket is likely to be Huchnom.

Per Ralph Shanks: Twined openwork conical gathering or hanging storage basket. Used with signs of wear. The basket has a crossed warp start. The warps and wefts are possibly unpeeled willow. The rim is braided with the warps bent to the right. The basket is plain twined with no designs. The basket has an exterior workface, a rightward work direction, and an up to the right slant of weft twist. Resembles Yuki buckeye leaching baskets 1-11901 and 1-12024.

Hearst Museum object titled Cooking basket, accession number 1-12005, described as Old flaring coiled basket. Well made for a Yuki basket. Tag "Yuki". Per Ralph Shanks: Broad coiled bowl, in the shape of cooking basket. There is food debris and some burns on the interior. The basket has a coiled oval start. The basket has a three rod coil foundation. The weft designs are in unpeeled redbud and the design background is in sedge. The design includes four sets of two intersecting diagonal bands with flags on either side, two sets of bands go to the rim, and two sets of bands meet halfway up the basket. There are filler designs at the rim between the main designs. The rim is plain wrapped. The primary design continues to the rim. The rim coil ending is decoratively backstitched for an inch and a half. The rim has a larger diameter coil than the rest of the basket. The weft fag ends are bound under, concealed and clipped; the weft moving ends are concealed. Less than 50% of the wefts are split on the interior, less than 10% are split on the exterior. The wefts are non-interlocking. The basket has an exterior workface. It has a rightward work direction and a down to the right slant of weft twist. The basket has both Yuki and Huchnom aspects. The Huchnom used sedge more commonly than the Yuki.
