Mr. Yamanobe is technical expert in textiles at the National Museum, Ueno Park, Tokyo. Note: fragment examined Feb. 1984 by Nobuko Kajitani conservator, MMA: fiber: silk; structure: plainweave (embroidered); from Horyu-Ji (temple), not Sho so-in (so indicated on slide) therefore 7th century, not 8 - 9 century. 2¼ inches by 3¼ inches.
