Satin, velvet, brass and gold. China. Shoulder width-170 cms. Length-112 cms.

Aquamarine silk with uncrowded embroidery in silk thread of blossoms and leaves in white, yellow, various hues of magenta and greens. Lined with midnight blue silk damask. Coat opens at the center front and is fastened with cast metal (brass?) buttons and cloth loops. Mandarin style collar. Contrasting floral and butterfly over embroidered black woven fabric used to embellish the neck, sleeves, cuffs, side slits and hem areas. Woven purple band with repetitive pattern is parallel to black band along sleeves and hem areas. 85cm length x 128cm across sleeves.

Lined with olive colored silk in plain weave. Mandarin style collar. Contrasting floral embroidered fabric used to embellish the neck area. Coat opens at the center front and is fasted with toggle buttons and cloth loops. Slits at the sides. Contrasting silk embroidered fabric forming bands at sleeve and hem edges. Garden scene on ivory ground. Bats and flowers on a yellow ground (sleeves only) and woven band with repetitive pattern. Bands might represent different historical periods since they were sometimes removed and placed on a new garment. 97cm length x 122cm wide at sleeves.

Gold wrapped thread couched to the surface with colored silk thread, forms design in front, sleeves and back. Mandarin style collar lined with light gren silk velour. Coat front is one piece overlapping and fastened to the right side with silk cloth toggle buttons and loops. Side slits. Lined with peach colored silk cloth in plain weave. 64cm x 113cm across sleeves.
