Hearst Museum object titled Horse lead, accession number 9-23741, described as One of a pair of leads for horse? Rope 7' long in chevron braid with two crossovers, alternating black and white. Loop on one end, wrapped in black and white. Other end frayed. Decorated with two sets each containing: weft twined bands 24" long and 1.25" in bright synthetic colors: red. yellow, green, maroon, mainly. Ends split in last 6", then are attached to 4" orange tassels. (1 maroon acrylic). Also each set has 3/8" wide braids like the main rope, also 24" long. All attached by sturdy loops to main rope, 16" form loop and 24" after that. Very well made.
