Hearst Museum object titled Tent band, accession number 9-23770, described as Tent band, zeinat beit sha'ar, zeinat al ruag. Stunning blue-black band with two stripes of white/black dots, and patches of weft twining in jagged style using bright colors, same as in the lush tassels and twined stems. Two sets of tassels at each end, upper set in colors and lower two in black goat hair. Warp probably black or brown dyed dark blue. Twining colors: primarily red and orange with a little fuschia, yellow, green, maroon, white. Pattern of twining: diamond and triangle combination to create "wihg," janah. Center of strip bound with thin red cloth, which is folded around a stick, sewn together, and decorated with three tassels. End tassels 23" long. Middle ones 9". Weft twined tassel stems in blocks of bright colors. Stems for bottom tassels in braided white and beige. Ends from twining left loose on the back. S-ply, plain weave, weft twining. 11 EPI, commercial dye used. It resembles the "Iraq" rug, which is probably Shammary.
