Hearst Museum object titled Bag, accession number 9-22569, described as decorated bag; purple silk bag with round bottom and drawstring closure of gold cord.  bottom half of bag is made of a heavily embroidered gold "cap" with round base and straight sides.  design made up of alternating bands and floral-like embroidery in a black or dark purple ground.  opening edge finished with "handkerchief points" (3).

From back, two five-clawed dragons vie for flamed pearl of perfection, above waves and rocks; clouds, Ju-i scepters, Buddhist swastikas, bats, dragons in gold thread.  Front closure with brass button. Piping around neckline of same blue and gold brocade with chrysanthemum pattern as 3.5 cm border of the collar. With crimson, peony-patterned, silk lining.
Hearst Museum object titled Face veil, accession number 5-16986, described as Face covering with sheer, brown crepe veil - decorated with 16 bands of silver coins on each side and 5 gold colored bangles plus a pendant of coral beads and silver coins at center. Brow band (length: 31.0 cm) is cross-stitched with silk thread (black diagonal, open diamonds on a red ground) is attached to the veil at center and via a double chain at each temple. Band is decorated on each side with 2 large silver coins, gold colored amulets (1 missing) and 6 "tassels" of beads of varying lengths (5.5 cm to 43.0 cm). A braided band attached to the brow band ties around the head, 3 silver colored chains are attached at both temples of veil, one terminating with silver, diamond shaped pendant, decorated with repoussé stars and half moons. Veil fabric smocked at top and finished with bands of cording at top. Bead tassels include coral, turquoise, glass, plastic, shell, wood, pearl and mother of pearl beads. From North Sinai, Egypt.
Hearst Museum object titled Mirror frame, accession number 9-21275, described as Hanging Mirror Frame. Two doors covered with ivory satin embroidered in Peking knot stitch and overlaid gold thread. Pattern reversed on the two doors: a gentle person’s eight treasures: sounding stone, incense burner over “Ju-i” scepter (May things go as you wish), as vase with flowers, a fruit tray, a pot with jade (?) flowers, brusholder, plaques hung from the doors. Inside: Cobalt blue, patterned silk with satin stitch embroidered peony in vase on a stand. Peking knot stitch for anthers. Back of case: cardboard. Mirror to be inserted from top slot. Frame of cobalt blue satin to which doors are hinged in three places with “doorposts”, ”lintel” and “thresholds” to hold mirror inside. Frame embroidered like doors. Pattern: Peonies and butterflies. Black satin border. Sides and back covered with cobalt blue patterned silk. A sounding-stone knot under a butterfly knot peaking in a 4.5 cm high loop for hanging, surmount the frame. Knots of hunter green braid. Brown, terracotta and green windings under the knots which emerge from the frame in three places. Below frame, a flounce of hunter green netting accented with five blackened metal disks and ending in ten tassels. Color scheme from left: gold, vermillion, hunter green, beige, cobalt blue - all faded - twice. Windings of 14 cm tassels in vermillion over faded hunter green wire threads. Height of frame: 26.5 cm; width: 22 cm.

Bright multicolor embroidery of stylized birds and  flowers: border along selvedge made up of 4 bands;  geometric designs on each side of birds and flowers; band, and looping flowere design; purple and gold metallic small metal mirrors as eyes of birds and flower centers in border; ribbon sewn along full length of selvedge.
Hearst Museum object titled Robe, accession number 9-22729, described as Tibetan, black silk robe embroidered with peony and plum (salmon and blue) blossoms, plus butterflies in corner of each front panel.  garment opens at center front and has 3 golden, ball buttons and black cord loop closures.  neck, sleeves, side slits and hem are bordered with elaborately embroidered ecru bands and commercial braid.  sleeve bands feature peonies and butterflies.  neck side-slits and hem feature scenes of women standing in the midst of trees, flowers, near water with bridges, rocks, butterflies, small garden shelters, and in shades of blue, green, peach, copper, aqua, salmon, old gold.  braid enhancement in aqua with salmon, yellow and green flower pattern.  fully lined with black silk.
