Hearst Museum object titled Horse lead, accession number 9-23741, described as One of a pair of leads for horse? Rope 7' long in chevron braid with two crossovers, alternating black and white. Loop on one end, wrapped in black and white. Other end frayed. Decorated with two sets each containing: weft twined bands 24" long and 1.25" in bright synthetic colors: red. yellow, green, maroon, mainly. Ends split in last 6", then are attached to 4" orange tassels. (1 maroon acrylic). Also each set has 3/8" wide braids like the main rope, also 24" long. All attached by sturdy loops to main rope, 16" form loop and 24" after that. Very well made.

Hearst Museum object titled Loom, accession number 9-23839, described as Piece of ground loom, natu. Made of synthetic yarns bought in quantity and plied by family members on hand spindles. It is the end of a much longer piece 31" of it woven. It came with one beam of black plastic pipe. There is a sleeve for the other beam, where the cloth was folded and sewn. The heddle bar is 1"x1" waste lumber; heddles of red and red-orange synthetic yarns, and white sheep wool. The warp and weave are bright color on black. Red, fuchsia, green, blue, and white in stripes, molar pattern, il'weirjan, and checks. The family made a lot of these for their use as cushions and rugs. See #23. Made for self.
