Hearst Museum object titled Bag, accession number 2-5811, described as Leather, with embroidery of red skin and thread. U - shaped flat pouch of bleached deerskin trimmed with sealskin, red dyed applique strips, plaited sinew carrying cord.

Bottom and mouth of scraped depilitated deerskin, sides of vertical panels of fishskin and white-tanned depilitated deerskin. Decoration consists of small elongate lozenges of red and bleached leather with fur trim and band of bleached leather around neck of bag. Two leather straps sewn on at mouth. Sinew thread used throughout. Overcast and running stitches. Made with salmon skins from belly and back, deerskin, gut, sinew thread, and fur.

Gut strips sewn together with waterproof stitches; opening of the same material. A very thin and narrow strip of fish skin, dyed red and blue, sewn into the seam to assume a better water tightness. Painted using yellow, white, red and black pigments. Fixtures include 10 paddles and one bow. Replica of liquor flask (black) is inside boat. skin-covered open boat with hunting crew = 12 paddles, 1 steerer (captain with whaler's hat), 1 hunter at the bow with bow & arrow.

Fishskin thong at top of handle. Antler.
