Hearst Museum object titled Crested miniature, accession number 7-10153a,b, described as (a) tea pot with (b) detached lid.  general shape is rounded ellipse, a short cylindrical foot (only a few centimeters in height).  the mouth is central formed by a small raised lip, as the body of the pot curves up slightly.  the handle is a rounded arch lifted upwards, attached just below the mouth - lip curving around to be attached near the center of the body.  the spout is attached central on the body curving straight up to the mouth with a small flaring out to make the pourer.  the crest has an edged shaped shield with an orange background.  on the top half is a horn and crane crossed over each other, beneath this is a tree in a green plot.  sticking out on all sides beneath the shield are leaved branches.  above the shield is a wren standing on a diagonally striped bar (only in white).  above the wren is a scrolling yellow ribbon with "Wood Notes Wild" written.  below the shield is a yellow scrolling ribbon with "Better a wee Bush than me bielt".  beneath this ribbon is written "Arms for Burns".  the mouth, lid edge and knob tip are trimmed in gold.  possibly made by Taylor and Kent using the Atlas Heraldic China stamp with C.R. & Co (C.R. & Co did not make China wares) unknown date.  maybe a stamp for wholesaler.
Hearst Museum object titled Miniature cow bell, accession number 7-10095, described as Bell. Inside is described as "Model of Old Swiss Cow Bell." Clapper is tied inside still. The bell is sqaure in facing but angles out creating triangular sides. Handle is on the top, dome-shaped. The center of the pot is a circular ring with three Squared Classic shaped shields interlocked in the center. Within the circular ring, between each shield is a Latin word which reads "Juncta, In Uno, Omnia" beneath each word is a Chinese character translating the same word above it. The three shields are all divided into four flags within. The flags of the left shield are- from top left to right: United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany (Prussia). The flags on the right shield- from top left to right: Russia, Denmark, Italy (but incorrectly painted with Ireland's flag), Portugal. The bottom shield (which is upside down to the viewer)- from top left to right (right way viewed): Norway, Spain, Holland, Sweden. Beneath the entire circular ring is written "Shanghai." This is the seal of the Shanghai Municipal 1863-1941. Made by W.H. Goss 1858-1887. Date is narrowed down to 1883-1887 because Russia's State flag of the Russian Empire was made official in 1887.
