Bone point bilaterally barbed, dart line of leather cut after 10 cm; commercial leather lace used to attach the point to the shaft, restored in 1980s; the dart line was attached to the shaft just below the socket. Used for hunting small sea mammals. Native names: narullkautaq, aklegaq.

: Hearst Museum object titled Netting shuttle, accession number 2-6637, described as Whalebone netting shuttle (baleen). According to Nelson, "the Eskimo of eastern Siberia and of St. Lawrence Island must have derived the pattern of their shuttles from farther south, and the imported design thus replaced the ordinary kind in use among their relatives of the islands of Bering strait and the American shore." INUA: Spirit World of the Bering Sea Eskimo: "St. Lawrence Islanders obviously liked the design of the whalers' net shuttles, which they copied and made out of baleen.
