Hearst Museum object titled Basket, accession number 1-10058, described as Basket; coiled. Warp is Willow (Salix), weft is Pine (Pinus). Brown pattern is Brake fern (Pteris quilina). 3-rod coiling with interlocking stitches. Straight-walled and rather small.
Hearst Museum object titled Basket, accession number 1-10167, described as Receptacle basket; twined. Warp is unpeeled Willow (Salix), weft is Pine (Pinus). Small and conical in shape.  A cloth strap attached to the rim attests to its having been hung when in use. Coarse, open diagonal twine, with 3 rows of plain twine beneath the rim. The bark on the materials is both stripped and unstripped (warp) and, in the case of the weft material, stripped until near the rim, where reddish-colored bark provides a contrast with the light-colored (and stripped) weft.
