Hearst Museum object titled Ear rings, accession number 5-6023a,b, described as Ear rings; pair; each with 22 loops of beads strung on wire and tied together w/ fiber; each loop a solid color, red, pink, or blue; diameter of loops 7 cm. Worn continuously by women. The women's ears are pierced and distended to accommodate the "hangi" Nowadays some women loop them through a ribbon passed over their head. Beads bought from Asian traders. Collected 1964
