Start Over Collector Robert L. Hoover Materials Asphalt (bituminous material)
Hearst Museum object titled Asphaltum, accession number 1-242972, described as Asphalt fragments bearing impressions of a coiled basket. The basket had grass bundle foundation, rightward work direction, and non-interlocking stitch. One of the fragments bears impressions of three layers of basketry, one of which is coiled, another twined.
