Lacquered red, with thickened lacquer in band 2.5 cm wide around outside rim. Brush painted decorative bands with swans, stylized plant forms and conventional border motifs. Dusk or swan in bottom. Used for household decoration. Used as drinking vessel, dipper measure of quantity; and as hat, in some areas, e.g. among the Trique of Oaxaca (cf. Cordry, Mexican Indian Costume)
