Indented crossed warp starting knot, covered with maidenhair fern. The warp material is hazel or willow. The weft is conifer root. The weft overlay is a beargrass background with maidenhair fern designs. Starting at the starting knot there is 3/4 inch of three strand twining, followed by .5 inch of plain twining. The design is triangles around the start followed by a checkered band. The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist, with a rightward work direction. The design overlay is single sided on the exterior. The basket is from Northwestern California.
