Hearst Museum object titled Sunshade, accession number 1-223998, described as Basketry. Twined, narrow.  Tag:  "Klamath R. Tribes att.". Per Ralph Shanks:  Twined basket, lid/ sunshade shaped. The basket has a crossed warp starting knot, which is partially wrapped.  The warp material is probably hazel. The background weft is conifer root.  The weft overlay is beargrass.  At the starting knot there is plain twining until .5 inch from rim, where there is one weft row of three strand twining, followed by plain twining until the rim.  The rim is trimmed.  The main design at the start is a beargrass sunburst, followed by two single weft rows of beargrass, followed by a band of beargrass triangles, followed by an inch-wide band of beargrass.  The basket has an up to the right slant of weft twist and a rightward work direction.  The overlay is primarily one-sided.  The workface is on the exterior.  The basket is from Northwestern California.
