Hearst Museum object titled Miniature basket, accession number 1-235259, described as Miniature basket. Twined. Paired encircling dark bands on underside and base of body.  Label "Kl. R. Tr. Att.". Per Ralph Shanks:  Twined tourist trade miniature basket bowl.  The warps are probably hazel.  The weft is conifer root.  The weft overlay background is beargrass, with designs in maidenhair fern.  It has a crossed warp starting knot covered with maidenhair fern.  Starting at the starting knot there is four weft rows of three strand twining, followed four weft rows of plain twining, followed by three weft rows of three strand twining, after which plain twining continues to the rim, which is trimmed. The design is done in concentric horizontal circles of alternating beargrass and maidenhair fern.  The basket as an up to the right slant of weft twist, an exterior workface, and a rightward work direction.  The overlay is on the exterior.  There is a hair woven into the basket.  The basket is from Northwestern California.
