Hearst Museum object titled Mask, accession number 5-16064, described as Mask; bold and simplistic carving; rudimentary facial features and hair; facial area consists of a hallowed out technique, with the eyes (without slits), nose, ears, and mouth in a raised relief; large split running from the top of head, through the left eye to the base of mask (greatest width is at base and is approx. 2.5 cms; smallest width is at top of head and is approx. .5 cms); entire mask is approx. 47 cms in height and 133 cms in circumference at its largest point (the raffia section), with the head at approx. 26.5 cms in height and 71 cms in circumference; a padded ring (from what appears to be cloth from clothing) is located at the bottom and appears to be used as a point of rest on the wearer’s head, with rope ties to strap along face and under chin; padded ring is approx. 66 cms in circumference; a wooden neck (approx. 27cms) is attached to head and goes through center of raffia section, with its flat wooden base in the center of the padded ring, and appears to be the area the rests and balances the mask on top of the wearer’s head.
