Hearst Museum object titled Basket, accession number 1-67892, described as Twined basket, oval. Per Ralph Shanks:  Plain twined.  Start is plain twined over two warps.  Reinforced rim made of wrapped warp sticks.  Rim has damage in several places.  Conifer root weft with beargrass overlay.  Black designs are probably maidenhair fern.  Designs include a band of designs around rim, and then diagonal parallelograms.

Per Ralph Shanks:  Materials are shoot warps, conifer root weft, background overlay of beargrass and design overlay of maidenhair fern.  Designs are double sided overlay.  Designs are in three horizontal bands with the largest of the designs in the shape of slanted parallelograms.  Up to the right slant of weft twist. Achumawi, Atsugewi, or Yana attribution.

Where the base meets the sides there are two rows of lattice twining.  Weft is conifer root and overlay is beargrass, red dyed Woodwardia, and a small amount of maidenhair fern.  Checkered pattern design.  Probably Wintu or neighbors.
