Hearst Museum object titled Tray, accession number 9-23872, described as Enamel tray. The white body is stenciled with a red five-pointed star and inscriptions “Academy of Political Science” (政治學院Zhengzhi xueyuan), “0463,” and “1954.10.” A blue bowstring decorates the rim.
Hearst Museum object titled Tray, accession number 9-23883, described as Porcelain tray. Oval tray with fluted rim, which was originally gilded. The painting shows a bird’s-eye view of a garden with multiple pavilions surrounded by walls and a small pleasure boat on a pond. The inscription identifies it as Hundred Flowers Islets (百花洲Baihua zhou) in Jiangxi province.

On a yellow ground, the tray is stenciled with a scene of a mother and her daughter standing on a riverbank under maple trees, with the mother pointing to the Beihai Park across the river. Pale blue edge and cobalt blue bowstring decorates the rim. In the 1950s imperial parks were opened to the general public.
