Hearst Museum object titled Skirt, accession number 9-21611, described as Skirt ; length: 87.0 cm waist to hem; width: 124.5 cm overlap, 126.5 cm underlap; Imperial Era; cream silk ground with wide central panel, the lower ⅓ of which is decorated with a 5-toed dragon in gold, and waves, clouds, flowers and fire patterns in blue, red, pink, white, and pale blue. Panel is bordered by bands of blue flowers on a black ground and black silk tape. Skirt is pleated in deep pleats, the lower ⅓ of which are decorated with embroidered phoenix birds, or dragons, waves. clouds, and flowers, and edged with tapes embroidered with blue flowers. Skirt is attached to a band of light brown cotton fabric.
Hearst Museum object titled Skirt, accession number 9-21609a,b, described as Skirt ; A)L= 117.0cm    ; W=77.0cm -98.0cm  (measured pleated); B) w=101.5-77.0cm, L=119.0cm  (measured pleated) : Imperial Era; made of 2 panels of red, patterned silk, w/ wide front and back panels and pleated skirt attached to very wide off-white waistband with cloth buttons and loop fasteners; green lining.  Pleats are edged in black ribbon and blue embroidered loral tapes; front and back panels have couched gold designs of a dragon and a phoenix in center bordered by blue emboridered tape and black silk ribbon bands.

Semi-circular w/ 4 flattened lobes  Center dragon is from inside of robe (behind the flap of the robe).  4 other dragons from front & back of imperial robes.  Scales on center dragon are paint edged.  Pearl of peace is incorporated with all five, 5-clawed dragons.  Clouds, endless knots, bats, waves & water imagery on opposite ends of cloth.  3cm border of black and blue borcade and endless knots & flowers around all edges..  Backing is natural yellow/gold brocade silk in brick pattern.

L=54,0 cm; W at top = 232.0 cm,  W at base = 82.0cm:   Pie shaped, made of pieces cut from a red/orange Imperial Era garment .  5 wedge-shaped panels sewn together and divided w/ black satin trim.  2.75cm black trim around upper and side edges; 3.5cm black trim on bottom edge.  Center wedge panel has metallic dragon w/ bats, waves, water, etc.   Side panels contain phoenix birds batrs, waves and water.  Attached at top are 5 pairs of balack cords drawn into a decorative know which is attached to a ball knot,  The end of the cords go thorugh a round wooden bead and a wooden disk that is knotted on top.   Black tassels/know cord hang from the attachment. LIght blue silk binding sewn to side edges.  Design motifs are in  white, blue, light green yellow, brown and shades of turquoise blue.  Top attachment measures 36.0 cm.
