Hearst Museum object titled Bowl basket, accession number 1-2995, described as Bowl basket; coiled. Warp and weft are Redbud (Cercis occidentalis). Red pattern is Redbud. Round, flat base, bottle shape, 4 circular bands of brown on natural ground, red yarn and quail top-knot feather trim around shoulder and neck. Interrupted stitch.

The basket has willow background wefts. The designs are in black bracken fern root and red Joshua tree root. The design includes one undulating line of red and two concentric circles of black. The basket has an interior workface and a rightward work direction with clipped and bound under weft fag ends. The wefts are not tightly spaced. Plain wrapped rim, with wefts more closely spaced than the rest of the basket, the coil ending is tapered. The origin of the basket is probably Kawaiisu or Tubatulabal. There is a hair near the rim of the basket.
