Per Ralph Shanks: Used basket, rim missing, native repairs on bottom. Grass bundle foundation, rightward warp direction. Butterfly design (pattern) in black outline and red interior. Background weft is sedge root. Black is bracken fern root. Red is probably yucca root.

Hearst Museum object titled Cooking basket, accession number 1-2963, described as Cooking basket; coiled. Warp is Epicampes (Sporobolus rigens), weft is Sedge (Carex). Black pattern is Brake fern (Pteris quilina). Double zigzag bands in dark red.
