: Hearst Museum object titled Figurine box, museum number 3-29248a-h, described as 6 figures in a bentwood box. 3 of figures are male, 3 female. Figures are wire, wrapped with paper and clothed with wrappings of cotton thread. Females have unfinished scraps of woven cloth tied at their waist with thread. Hair appears to be made by painting heads with adhesive, then dipping in bed of dirt. All male figures carry a wood log on their backs, all females one on top of their head. Box is made of 2 pieces of wood--base and bentwood side. Base is held in place mechanically, overlap of side is glued.
