Hearst Museum object titled Textile, accession number 9-17036, described as Textile; white cotton plainweave square w/block-printed design in center of Nandi (in brown); four conch shells are at the corners of the white field w/floral border in red, greem and purple); old stains.  Handspun cotton in plainweave w/block-printed designs.  India, Gujerat attr.  (fide N. H.). Made ca. 1947-57 (fide Niloufer Hirschmann).  88 cm by 88 cm.
Hearst Museum object titled Textile, accession number 9-17035, described as Textile fragment; scene showing woman bathing outdoors w/servant holding towel behind her; approaching is man on horseback; comm. cotton cloth w/printing done in woodblock technique; floral border below, partial botehs at sides.  Cotton cloth w/block-printed design.  Persia (Iran) attr.  The textile depicts Shireen bathing.  Her royal status is indidcated by the crown on the tree.  The man on horseback is Kay (king) Khosrow Parviz; he holds his finger to his mouth in the gesture of amazement (at Shireen's beauty).  He fell in love with her and made her one of his harem.
