L. 3.4 cm. rilobed, socketed arrowheads are widely distributed in NE Iran. The form may have developed in Trans-Caucasia. In Anatolia the archaeological context suggests an association with the Cimmerians in the late 8th or early 7th century B.C. In Persia they are reported from Zindan, Hasanlu, Ziweyeh; outside graves and cemeteries at Sialk “B” and from Bab Jan. Other sites, including Hasanlu, have yielded additional arrowheads of this type, but from unknown contexts.

Total L. 11.2 cm; L. of tang 6.5 cm. Wide distribution in western Persia: Talish, Khurvin, Marlik, Dailaman; into Kurdistan-Ziwiyeh and Bit Sorgh; and on plateau at Sialk. This type of arrowhead becaused of its weight and small surface would be particularly suitable for piercing armor.
