Hearst Museum object titled Bag, accession number 2-62862, described as Cotton beaded purse, synthetic lining, metal edging and chain handle. Purple crochet; iridescent green purple, blue bead; gold metal. Length 6”  Width across top 5 1/2” Beaded bag; Woven paisley fragment in red, aqua, black and multicolor shaped into a purse with pleated fullness at top. Woven designs outlined with spaced steel beads. Frame removed. 10” x 16”  Worn, some beads missing. Lined with rose satin. Before 1900, widening to 10 1/2”across bottom. Vertical rows of beads alternate with crocheted striped. Beaded stripes are tapered towards top of purse. Purse made by Zula Talbott when she was 18-20 years old. She was the donor’s sister and lived in Reno, Nevada.
