Finishing has been removed from top of skirt 1898-1901 A.) bodice - teal blue silk fine twill. sleeves and bodice decorated with ivory colored silk floss embroidery of vines and leaves. Leaves are cut out and held together with loose stitches. Sleeves finished in four points trimmed with small band of ruched netting, pleated trim of ice blue brocaded ribbon also used on bodice. High collar trimmed on either side with ivory colored lace, body of collar pleated silk chiffon. Front of bodice has deep V filled with pleated silk chiffon, edged with very fine machine made embroidered net in pattern of three petals in scallop around oval. Between fabric of dress and fill of 'v' is ice blue brocaded silk ribbon featuring cluster of tiny pink and rose flowers with green stems, pattern edged with flowing green tendrils. Ribbon finished with very small scalloped stitch. Ribbon gathered into triple bow at bosom and pleated band at waist with knot center front, and small bow at center back collar. Lined in cream silk taffeta and boning set in with silk tape finished seaming. Fastens down front with hooks and eyes, two large hooks center back to attach skirt shoulder to hem front 18", neck 14" B.) skirt has been unpicked, would have had modified apron effect in front with ruched selfedging making loop in front, five vertical tucks released into front hem, about 2 inches in front, deeper on side approx. 6-7 ". Hem composed of two rows of self material in pleated and gathered layered flounces. Ruched and tucked decoration focused on front and sides, back is plain. Would have been fastened in back with hooks and eyes. Would have been gathered into waistband especially in back. center front to hem - 39" center back to hem - 48.5" Small stain proper right front, hemline soiled.
