Barrett filed notes, p. 94: "am mortar stone Sunk down level with ground & acorns pounded directly upon it without basket. The ground around this was hard & smooth where the acorn meals had been pounded for a long time. As more acorns are needed simply brush them on to the rock with the hand. The brush 1269 is used to clean the stone of meal.
